Position Overview
The Cath Lab Special Procedure Technologist II assists credentialed providers with diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures in cardiac and vascular laboratory environments. The role performs scrub, monitor/recorder, and X-ray technologist duties while supporting patient safety, radiation compliance, sterile procedures, and cardiovascular monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as scrub, monitor/recorder, and X-ray technologist during CVL procedures.
- Prepare and position patients and assist with invasive cardiac and vascular procedures.
- Operate and troubleshoot hemodynamic, imaging, and monitoring equipment.
- Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and hemodynamic waveforms and promptly alert the care team.
- Maintain sterile fields using proper aseptic technique.
- Support procedures involving IVUS, atherectomy devices, pacemakers/ICDs, and coronary interventions.
- Perform radiation safety and quality-assurance activities.
- Assist with sheath removal, hemostasis, patient transport, and post-procedure care.
- Perform point-of-care testing including ACT, glucose, oxygen saturation, and ABGs.
- Perform BLS/advanced life support and defibrillation when required.
- Maintain supplies, equipment, and clean work areas.
- Participate in on-call coverage and respond onsite within 30 minutes when called.
