Employment Type: Full-time
Experience Level: 10–15 years preferred
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
The ideal candidate is an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who has progressed into a sustaining engineering or manufacturing engineering role and can lead internal engineering projects involving existing hydraulic or pneumatic products.
The successful candidate should have:
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- Significant experience with hydraulic or pneumatic actuator product design.
- At least five years of experience with hydraulic or pneumatic actuator components preferred.
- Manufacturing design engineering experience, including design modifications and product improvement.
- Experience reviewing product designs and collaborating with manufacturing teams.
- Strong technical judgment and the ability to lead engineering projects with limited supervision.
- Aerospace industry experience preferred, although relevant candidates from other industries may be considered.
- The ability to work onsite Monday–Friday at the Glendale, California manufacturing facility.
Important distinction: This is not a purely desk-based design engineering position. The engineer must use mechanical design expertise to lead sustaining projects, review existing product designs, work cross-functionally with manufacturing, and implement product modifications and improvements.
The Lead Sustaining Engineer provides technical ownership and leadership for existing fluid power and motion control products after their initial development.
The engineer leads design analysis, product redesigns, and cost and quality improvement initiatives throughout the product lifecycle. Working closely with Integrated Product Teams, manufacturing, Chief Engineers, and subject matter experts, the role resolves design, manufacturing, testing, and field-related issues.
The position requires independent technical judgment and decision-making authority for component designs, system designs, and test rigs, while ensuring compliance with engineering standards and processes.
The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement in product performance, manufacturing quality, cost reduction, and first-pass yield.
